Week 6-Last Meeting

Today is the last day, our group held a small farewell party for them. We bought some pizza for them. Unfortunately, my child Fida didn't attend the meeting I don not know the reason.

About 8pm, all group and their children gathered at the cube after finished eating as there had a closing ceremony. At the closing ceremony, every group leader gave the participation certificates and photograph to each children and from their group respectively.  

Week 6 - The Ceremony (by Ang Chun Wah)

24 April 2018, today is the last day of the community meet up. And today we are not going to do academic exercise. We planned a simple farewell for them before the ceremony.

It's a small PIZZA PARTY for the children!!!! Let's enjoy!!

After the farewell, we have a ceremony to give the testimony for the children as they already finish the program 'Tekno-Belajar'.

It is a unforgettable memory for me as before the program, I never think that I am able to contribute so much to the community. From the start until the end, I able to see Ummu's improvement in academic. All the best to her in the examination! Thank you.

Week 6 - Pizza Party

Pizza brought a Big Full Stop to our Social Engagement

So fast last day already, due to the public holidays and election day, we have to end this social engagement project earlier. Some parents felt upset when hearing this news.

I'm sure that both sides, we and them learnt a lot of things, for the last day, let's just eat these pizzas!!

                                               

Incidentally, I wore the same shoes to one of the children, haha.

Had lots of fun eating together.

Hopefully, when they came to university, we can be someone who is able to guide them, and inspire them to be great.

Week 5-Continue on Ace e-learning

Today I took a piece of paper and tried to teach her how to calculate. I could write every step of the calculation, but how can I really express it completely I may still not be able to do so I can only let my companion help me Translate it before you can really express clearly

And today she asked to learn some English. I told her when you completing you study tasks I will teach some. After that, I tried to teach her some simple words，even some Chinese words.

Week 5 - Small Incident (by Ang Chun Wah)

The community meet up is held as usual today. All of the children are trying to clear those exercise one by one with full spirit. All of the mentor also try our best to help them in solving those question in a easier and understandable way.

They are very focus on the exercise.

The incident

However, there is a small incident happen during this week after the community meet up. Because due to the General Election 14 and public holiday, our project will be end early than what actually planned. Therefore, I have to get the information of those children from their parents. And something happened and make me feel our efforts are actually appreciate by them.

One of the parent from my group tell me that she and her son are very happy with the program done by us. And her son also start doing exercise after school using the online learning website. The change on her son make she feel so happy because original her son is very lazy to do extra exercise. 

Week 5 - Absentee

Time flies, our time with these adorable children passed, it's second last week for the others, but not for me...

I really appreciate the amazing memory for both us and the kids. However I could not attend due to meeting.

From zero to one, from strangers to friends. This journey does not only belong to those kids. For us, I can see at first, my friends and I were not used to teaching the children, and could not handle them well. But now, we naturally know how to communicate with them and let them like to study.

We could do nothing to change the event schedule, so we planned for the most memorable closing ceremony and dinner with the kids. Some other teams invited us to join their force, and celebrate a party with pizzas. We accepted the offer, and were willing to pay some pocket money for the kids' celebration.

                                       

                                       

We recently received a message from a parent that did not expect the program to end earlier (due to election day). She said that her child changed, she tends to study more after meeting us, and she did not want to end this program so early.

Memory can't be bought by money, I hope these children can learn something through this experience.

Week 4-Continue on Ace e-learning

Today she started to do some simple math problems, and I tried to teach her, but I can only tell her the result, and can not tell her how to calculate it, so I can only help her a little, but they recommend me Let me learn Malay to teach her. This is still a bit difficult for me. I may start with some basics.😵😵

I found that she would go back and see her favorite TV series after she finished her study.

Introducing to you.... these two completely different guys!

Yugen can be really hardworking to be competent among his friends. I believe that this is his strength which if utilizes well, can be a motivation for him to learn basically everything in an incredibly fast pace.

On the other hand... my child Ariff hahahhaha, look at what he's searching!

Although he doesn't have much will to become "special" among his members, his humble manner sure can earn him many friends.

Here are the generations that are approaching us from the back, and we are using this platform to accelerate their personality building, education is fascinating!

Week 4 - Learning process keep going. (by Ang Chun Wah)

10 April 2018, the children already used to the learning website last week. Therefore, this week we start more concern on their performances on each subject instead of teaching them how to use the learning website.

For my 'adik' Ummu, she is quite good in all the subject except for Mathematics. From the past week, I do know that she love Science and hate Mathematics. Although she dislike Mathematics, but for me what I have to do is to help her get a good result in all the subject. Maybe I will a little bit strict to her, however I want her to do Mathematics exercise at least 2 times before she proceed to other subject.

As usual, the mentors are helping the children in their exercise.

During the rest time, one of the member Chor is playing with the children. The plasticine is bring by the children. And they laugh on Chor because he don't know how to play it as he end up with the dirty red hand.

Week 3-Introduction to Ace e-learning platform

Today, I help my kid to register an account on i-LEARN Ace e-learning platform， and improved her information and taught her how to use this platfrom.
i-LEARN Ace is a platform where users can learn stuff online.

This learning platform has many interesting places. It has notes, quizzes and assessments, and there is also a little reward mechanism. Whenever you complete a learning task, it rewards you points that allow you to decorate your own hut and also can play some games to relax. The most important thing is that it also includes a ranking list to compare the progress of the users from the same school，those who get the most A will be in the first place, which will increase their motivation to compete.

Week 3 - Registration for ilearnace (by Ang Chun Wah)

3 April 2018, registration for the ilearnace is done today. The reason why until so late we only help the children to register and subscribe the ilearnace platform is because the subscription is only available for half year. And the children will only face their PSAR exam on September 2018. So, we want the children able to access to the website and make use of it until the end of the exam.

During my time, we have never thought of using this kind of subscription-based learning platform to learn things. For me, I did went for one or two tuition classes per week. Well, this clearly shows how digital platform evolves till now. Education mode can change the way our next generation learn things.

They can access it until UPSR, hopefully this platform can help them in revising their subjects.

We had studied through the features provided by i Learn Ace, and it's amazing that they merge the exercises with game tokens, which can be use to buy virtual items. It can provide a healthy environment where the children can compete among themselves to do the exercises and get more gaming tokens!
